Mehbenrun Steelcast
A Norse Dwarven Metal Mystic, with potentially some celestial or Aesir heritage long in his past, he is part forge master, part mystic, part metal-kinetic master and uses these arts in a unique but powerful conjunction. He has the power to change any metal to any other kind, which in the planes can have some phenomenal and fantastic results. Likewise he can change the shape of a metal, it's density, and properties. This alone would make him formidable for offensive and defensive purposes with shields of varying metals, layers, and alloys that may be impossible outside of his power, and spikes or blades being made out of metal at will. This however is the tip of the iceberg.
Coming from a family of metal smiths he is a master of armor and weapons creation, works well with other smiths, and can instill his magickal powers into weapons and armor making “shifting” weapons and armor, that is armor or weapons with different forms and properties the wielder/wearer can call upon. While these are more battle, defense, strength, and speed shift forms, some elemental powers can be instilled by him alone, though if there are other forge workers or masters in a keep they can aid him. These elements he can instill would be Lightning, Heat, and Fire! Further his creations tend toward the more durable side, with them being self repairing for long periods and massive amounts of damage before he would ever need to do any maintenance. Trying to fully understand this it helps to know he uses anywhere from one to two tons of special metals to make a single suit of armor, condensing, focusing, and forging it. While the armor feels like it weighs nothing, this is because of how the metals interact, shift, and change their properties pushing against each other, and gravity, to give them a light and easy feeling. This also means his work takes time, generally a few weeks per full suit of armor or weapon, but the quality is unsurpassed. For forge working his level should be considered 5 levels higher, and for durability instilling into works 10 levels higher.
He has been sought after by Gods, Goddesses, and other deities to forge, but has done work for farmers, other craftsmen, and more. His entire life he has worked more for the art than any great gains, and so it's not impossible to find a simple knife made by him several thousand years ago, just as sharp as it was the day it was made, and not needing to be honed carried by a farmer or peasant, or a suit of armor worn by someone of deific descent, still as sturdy and capable as the day it was made despite even hundreds of years of wars.
This focus more on his craft, and good works, is why he wants to work with a mortal human for their lifetime, and potentially a second or third if both agree at the end of that life. He wants to work with someone who “never seeks a fight, but won't back down either” and who “has acceptance, goodness, and kindness in their heart.” Because of his harsh standards, you'll never see a piece of his work in evil hands, and it seems that his work has a kind of “bad luck” for those who are truly or purely evil who find it. His weapons will blunt when trying to be used for evil, and if his armor is used to oppress others, it will open to reveal the heart of the person to whatever hero tries to strike it. This doesn't mean you need to be “pure of soul” to work with him, he'll be the first to admit he is not “pure” of soul but it means being someone who doesn't seek to oppress or dominate others, or to cause harm for harms sake or out of abject hate or bigotry.
In a fight, he uses his vast powers with incredible martial talent. He fights at close and long range, a sweep of an axe felling a foe during a siege is followed by the wave of a hand as a saw blade a hundred feet high moves toward those who mean to do evil or harm to his friends and allies. He has fought in at least a dozen wars, defended righteous kings from evil beings, and protected farmsteads from invasion single handedly. He never seeks a fight, and would always prefer peace, but if a fight comes, he won't be in the corner afraid, but instead on the front lines fighting valiantly.
All of that, and it feels like we are barely scratching the surface of what he can do, he's a master craftsman, and I could write for days on his skills and things he can create. He can further instill talismans made of metal in our realm with vast powers specifically toward cleansing, healing, and protection but he will need to recharge those at least once a month, needing a day to do so, as our realm tends to break such energies down over time.
Strong, muscular, with a black beard, soot on his face, and a ready smile, he is the essence of the Dwarven Smith to look at him. With a friendly heart and kindness to him, he's a joy for all those around him, and tends to be a kind of father figure to younger spirits, or less experienced ones. He'll take the time to listen to anyone about their day, their struggles, and give kindly advice, and is as much a boon to those around him for who he is, as he is for what he can do. He goes by Mehb as a shortening of his full name.
