Terminology:
When creating a link between the practitioner, and their spiritual companion there are many forms of binding/bonding that can be done. We use the terms binding and bonding, as well as linking, interchangeably within the context of our writing at RQL.
This link can be done in one of many ways, and likely many more than listed.
Bound to Body - Using the client's body as the focus point of the bonding similar to a Bond to Object wherein the client's body is the object being used as a focal point.
Bound to Object - Using an object as a focus point of the bonding. This is often a charm, talisman, crystal, or other object selected by the client, or in the case of shipped out talismans created/selected by RQL.
Bound to (Essence): This is binding the spirit connection to some spiritual aspect of the practitioner. This could be their soul, spiritual body, higher self, lower self, or otherwise.
Bound to Contract: This is a kind of contractual binding that ensures a companion remains loyal yet also provides some protections to the spirit.
At RQL we can do a binding over a distance to Body, Object, or Essence of your choosing but our default method is listed below. To change this binding during an order you need to reach out to us before we fulfill the order and let us know how you want it bound. If bound to an object at RQL and sent to you, you must complete the order of an appropriate vessel/talisman for the working.
The RQL Method:
At RQL our default method is Bound to Essence: Will, and Bound to Contract. Binding to will ensures that the spirit is available when called upon, as they are connected to your will alone, allowing them to be as present, or as distant as you need as the link is to your will. Bonding to will is similar to bonding to thought, but instead requires that you actually want to make contact to call them forward, not that you have just a casual thought. Binding to will ensures they are loyal to your will first, and not just whatever they may decide your best interests in, and also spills over into our Bound to Contact Method.
The Contact, as we call it, is an energetic matrix that completes the bonding to a series of generalized rules in which The Contract can oversee interaction. It prevents the spirit from being hostile to the contract holder as well as those associated with them unless they request otherwise. It ensures the companion will do their best to fulfill any requests given to them, ane ensures they must act with good will in their actions toward outcome. It provides a safety layer for the client, but also if the client should use hostile actions against the conjure the conjure can terminate the contract to leave. Hostile actions would be using banishing methods to dismiss the spirit permanently, any ritual that ends the contract, or any symbolic action to end the contract.
A command to leave must be more than just a stern "leave forever" which may be said hastily. It requires some physical action such as lighting a candle, incese, or even setting a time at which if you haven't disturbed an "offering" such as clean water acts as a final point of dismissal. Any symbolic action in which a reasonable time to reconsider is given, is sufficient to act as a "contract completion ritual" and uses the power of The Contract to disconnect and forever banish the spirit from the client.
A Hostile Action would also include direct abuse of a spirit using other magickal means, such as a Solomonic Triangle and torturing the spirit within. Any action of direct, intended, torturious hostility toward a spirit gives them sufficient right to use The Contract to disconnect from their keeper. Generally speaking, most clients never act in this way, so this part of The Contract never needs implemented.
Binding After Binding:
After a spirit companion has been bound to a client's will, talisman, physical body, and/or any spiritual aspect as part of the completion of the order any future bindings would need to be done through our rebind services. Once we've completed the binding/bonding process as part of an original order, clients seeking to have their spirit bound/bonded to a talisman, another aspect of themselves, or otherwise would need to order this service.
