Lemures
Written about in Roman Mythology and Lore, Lemures are a type of deceased being who has in some way retained their identity, sense of self, and ability to have self determination. This ability almost always comes from a sense of wrath, or judgmental nature. They are, by their nature then, beings of vengeance, justice, and retribution. They have no societies, and appear similar to other “dead/undead” apparitions in that their qualities can include translucent appearance, glowing qualities, or other such things. They are known for attacking the living, or being harmful or hurtful to humans. Lemures that we conjure are ones who have been able to evolve past the need to harm all life, and instead seek to turn their vengeful nature toward becoming a champion. That said some Lemures evolve even past that form, and study deep magicks or methods of working, yet still have agreed to work with a human without causing them, their family, friends, and important individuals in their life harm. They do not have societies as we think of them, but do tend to mingle together at times, and may form small tribes for short periods. Fantastic for vengeful workings, protection, and justice related things, their personality reflects some of who they were when they were alive, and often reflects the wrath that allowed them to transcend death’s traditional hold. This means they tend to be shorter in words, blunt, and direct in speech. Their voice can sound angry to those not use to them, but those that work with humans have overcome their wrath, and learned to redirect it toward a beneficial purpose.
