Nightmares

Powerful horses of darkness, these beings are often seen in Germanic Folklore, and are portrayed as malevolent or hostile more often than not. Nightmares are innately magickal horse demons, who focus on dreams, and the dream realms, but can cross most realms easily. Powerful beings of travel, often having other magickal forces associated with them, Nightmares have a strong connection to the dream energies, psychic energies, thought, and emotional energies. While considered malevolent in many stories, those that choose to work with humans are instead seeking at times redemption, other times companionship, and still others an opportunity to strengthen their powers by aiding others. Their reasons can be as varied as their personalities, with some being more calm, collected, and compassionate. Other Nightmares may be more prideful, or arrogant, seeing any victory they can win for their companion human as a marker of their own excellence. They tend to have small communities, be incredibly loyal, and to make for fierce guardians and allies in the dream realms.
