Undines

Masters of the ocean waters, Undines are caretakers of the ocean, and a type of water elemental. Where other types of water and ocean based beings are more diversified, Undines are almost always guardians of some kind, or have an instinctive need to protect and defend. This strong connection to protection, and powerful abilities with water, means Undines less frequently explore other areas of mysticism, yet some still do. They are able to take many forms as a kind of shape shifter, often appearing as being perpetually soaked in animal or human forms. Many Undine have a preferred form they return to, consistently appearing as an animal or human form, or something animal or human like with a strong connection to water in its form, such as a limb made of water, or eyes that appear like the ocean is moving in them. They tend to have very strong, focused, and stable personalities, with a kind of intensity like the ocean itself behind all they say or do. Their societies tend to be centered around the guardian of ocean roles, and are ocean realms they come to when not acting in a guardian capacity. Undines who wish to work with humans do not require the ocean to be nearby, having decided to watch over and form a bond with the human. They have decided to hone that instinct to protect and aid toward a human in our realm, and in that, they are as dedicated to the human as they would be if they were the ocean itself.
